GETTING TO KNOW ACTOR AND RISING STAR KACI JANE HANSEN

• How did you get started in the acting industry?

  I had been in plays at a young age and learned very quickly how someone’s performance of a character could make an audience feel any range of emotion. That me as the actor held that power to make them feel that way and I became obsessed with every aspect of acting immediately. It takes a certain type of person to be able to have the emotional recall to take on a lot of the roles Hollywood or Indie films ask of you these days, even comedy.

• Who is your favorite director? And what is your favorite movie of theirs?

  I think we can all agree David Yates did an unbelievable job with the Harry Potter movies 5-8, as did Mike Newel for the 4th installment.

  However, I would have to say at the moment my favorite director is Ari Aster. His work terrifies, inspires, engulfs & enrages me in such a beautifully magnificent way. I would absolutely love to be apart of one of his films if ever given the honor.

• What is your favorite way to spend a day off?

  Wake up, go to hot yoga, come back, shower and read for a little bit. Then take myself on a drive out to Malibu just before sunset and find the perfect spot to sit in silence or bumping my favorite tunes to a magnificently painted sky. The drive home once it’s dark, looking at all the stars. That’s a perfect day for me.

• What are some locations on your bucket list to travel to, and why?

  I’ve been wanting to travel to Thailand a lot recently to not only explore its wonders but experience the year-round bioluminescence on some of the islands there. Just to wade in that water looking up at the stars in the sky, surrounded by this glow in the dark algae. Sounds like a scene out of Avatar and I would love to experience it.

• What advice do you have for people looking to get more out of social media?

  What I’ve learned the most the last two years is to just be authentic. Authenticity is incredibly rare and hard to find, even amongst yourself. We live in a world where we think we need to be like this or that but have you looked and noticed that the people who are “famous” are that way not only because of their talents, but because they showcase their true selves. Humans need connection, in order to succeed in anything, especially social media find your niche of people to connect with.
